Actually, nothing you eat will PREVENT a person from getting drunk. If you drink in excess you will get drunk. Alcohol is absorbed into the bloodstream, it enters your brain, which impairs your judgment. To slow down the absorption you should eat a meal before drinking, but...that won't stop you getting drunk.

As for mixed drinks, no you don't get drunk faster. 1 oz of alcohol is one oz. whether in a mixed drink or straight. The thing with mixed drinks it you can drink them faster and drink more of them without realizing it. The sugar in the mixes just makes for a better (meaning more severe) hangover the next day.

The best way to prevent getting drunk is pacing yourself, drink slowly and use common sense. No need to get drunk-the only things you'll get from that is a hangover and sure sign you are either immature or irresponsible.

Just eat a big meal and munch on something while drinking. Most people don't know, but you get drunk sooner with mixed drinks than you do with straight liquor. It's weird, but true. It has something to do with the sugar and carbonation. You're also more likely to get a hang over with mixed drinks. Try just drinking straight liquor and drinking a water back with each drink. That will keep you on your feet longer.
