You must of read "Ill wind" by Kevin J Anderson. The plot is based on bacteria that eats all the oil, then it mutates and eats all the plastic.

WIthout oil, Greenpeace wouldn't be able to fuel their protest boats and support their vandalism and piracy.

So, in brief, Greenpeace will do that just as soon as they stop being hypocrites. Which means, NEVER.

There already are such bacteria, but they probably need oxygen to do the dirty work so to speak. Echoing a previous response, the same result happening, massive quantities of CO2 released.

U would need to kill all plants first as the plants need the CO2 so live and I don't think they would take too kindly to that. Every plant would be poison Ivy. What u hate the plants so. Leave things alone they are doing fine.
