I'm 17 years old, and I live alone with my dad. He is a major a**hole, seriously. He is abusive, and he's called me names, and told me to "get out". I can run away legally, but I don't have any friends or family to stay with, and there aren't any shelters here. What can I do besides getting the law involved?

Get a Job, save a months worth of income and rent a 1bed and move out on your own. You might want to look around a lot to see if you need more than a month. Or maybe look in the paper and see if anyone is looking for a room mate. You are diffently going to have to work to support yourself. Are you still in school you didn't say if you are do not quit if you already have quit get your ged you can't get a decent job without school. Good Luck.

Where is your mom? Do you have a good teacher at your school you can trust? You need to talk with somebody. I thought your mom, teacher, principal. If there anybody you can talk take a contact to the child protection services, there is somebody listen to you. I'm so sorry to hear that. I wish I can help you. You don't need to listen all the bad words from your dad, take some action. Good Luck.

It's very unfortunate that you and your father don't get along you have one more year until you're 18 son hang in there join the military and travel abroad while earning money, education and experience. They provide room and board and you can tell you dad Good Bye!

Go for counseling. Get help from social services. They can at least help you finish school. Education is your only power and you must get it. Make an anonymous call to the community crisis line (it's in the phone book or call 411) to see what options you have. Please see about getting out of this situation and yet getting educated.

call social services...they will find you a safe place to live while (i'm hoping, you're still in school) you finish school. at which point they will assist you in making the transition to your own place. also, if your dad is abusing you, why wouldn't you want to get the law involved? what he is doing is illegal.
