THE DRAFT IS NOT COMING BACK! One congressman wants the draft back. For one, this will never get passed. And if it did, the President would vito it right away. He is one of the few people that want a draft. It will take something like World War III to bring the draft back. So will you stop complaining or giving us your "opinion" that the draft is coming back? The draft is NOT coming back, period.

I am talking about people on this site. They seem to think it is really coming back for some reason, when 2 minutes of research would show you that it is not.

And to the person saying this is already WWIII. Yea 25 years from now this might be seen as the early stages of WWIII, but it hasnt begun yet. So there is still no need for a draft.

Well nightman, it tells me something about your grammar...

But anyways, why shouldn't a 44 year old be allowed to join?(the cut off age is 42 last time I checked). And for 2006 recruiting exceeded its preset goals.

I don't think WWIII is going to be a big nuclear fire fight. At least I hope not. I think it will just be a big war with Iran, but it won't come to nuclear war because we won't let it.

I think that there are two reasons. One is that so many people know so very little about the military that they are easily mislead into thinking it is coming back.

The other reason is that I think some people actually want it back because they want their own "sixties" experience. The long to protest but since there is not draft then their protests are largely meaningless.

I received a violation yesterday for saying there will be no draft. And the comment about WW III is lame. If that were to happen, we would all be ashes due to all of the nukes flying around.

The kiddies are just scared that they may actually have to do something to live in this country. I think we should have two years of mandatory national service, not just military service. Would help the country and help provide a little bit of pride, education, respect and discipline in today's youth..............

you dont think we are at the beginning of ww3..???? you had better check the rhetoric of americas enemies and watch who they are aligning themselves with....if they cant beat us down economically, eventually they will try militarily...they already have a large amount of our troops deployed to iraq and afghanistan for the war on terror...if the united states means to survive until the next century, we need to have the largest, most technologically advanced and trained military ....also..maybe having everyone serve a couple of years in the military will start giving our young people a "stake" in americas future and educate them about the freedoms we take for granted...peace through power...
the middle east is not our only challenge..in a couple years china will start to flex its economic and military might to try and recapture taiwan and hong kong...they are already trying to take over the rest of southeast asia and put it under their sphere of influence...not to mention that a beijing loyalist owns the company that is now operating the panama canal, and china is making overtures and sending engineers, and capital to cuba..in order to stop any idea of a revolution taking place there after castro's death...they like the idea of pressure put on america with a communist country 90 miles away...and then there is hugo chavez...we might not have to bring the draft back if the liberals have their way and cave in to these other countries bit by bit...but then we will have to take orders from outside our country...something ill bet not too many americans want to do....

No one with any common sense thinks the draft is coming back.

The little Democrats on Yahoo are frightened to death that they might have to serve their own country.
And they really don't like their own country.

Cheetahbill's got the right answer, although I would amend it just a little: "liberal paranoia."

You've got people already packing their bags for Canada...

They must be Democratic or pesimistic. Perhaps there are too many cowardly Americans not willing to die for their country.
