YES - get it checked out right way.
In May of last year, I noticed a pimple bump on the side of my 2yr. old huskys rib cage. It was wasn't on the rib, but in the skin. I simply brushed it off as a skin tag ( which in your case it could easily be ) About a week later, I noticed it doubled in size, it wasn't painful when I messed with it, and she didn't bother it either, however my boxer (who thinks he's a blood hound) he wouldn't leave it alone, he was always sniffing it, and it would drive her crazy, they even got into a few fights about him sniffing her bump). A couple days later, I looked at it again, and noticed it wasn't growing massivly but now it has some obviouse vascularity too ( visible blood vessels going to it) That was it for me and I rushed her to the vet! They tried to brush it off as a skin tag, and I persisted they remove it and biopsy the mass. They only did it to shut me up and thought I was a superficial vain owner, thinking I only wanted it to be removed to make my dog pretty (not that you could really see it through all her fur). I waited two weeks for the biopsy results and the vet called me in and apologized for giving me such a hard time about what he thought was a cosmetic surgery. It turned out she had an APOCRINE CARSINOMA, and in her case it was it was extreemly aggressive. They double checked the biopsy, and believed they removed it in time (before it would spred and the test showed a wide boarder of healthy cells and tissue from the mass they removed).
So though it may look harmless, it could very easily turn deadly. Safest thing is just to have you Vet take a look. You might be able to catch it in time if it is canserous or you might be simply looking at a skin tag..... no harm.
Good luck.

Sometimes those pimple-like cysts do get hard like that and are not extractable. It should be ok just left alone but watch it.
If it grows very much you should probably have your vet look at it.

She may have gotten bitten by a spider, or some sort of insect. My dog had a litter of puppies once and they lived under my bed, well the puppies got bitten by a spider and their necks or where ever they were bitten swelled up....What we did was take a needle and sqeeze out the puss in it and it went away...
Or, she may have a type of tumor developing. So you may want to take her to the vet. If its a tumor it may be cancerous and need to be removed.
I'd take her to the vet just to be on the safe side.
