In Matthew Chapter 6:5-6, Jesus states:
"When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, who love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on street corners so that others may see them. Amen, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go to your inner room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret."
Here Jesus is talking about the proper attitude when approaching personal prayer not group prayer.
Jesus went to Temple or a synagogue on the Sabbath for group prayer. Actions speak louder than words.
With love in Christ.

Please give the verse you are talking about. I read no where in Matthew 6 that says going to church is a sin. The apostle Paul urges us to not forsake the fellowship of the saints. You should gather with people who believe as you do so as to encourage one another and be strengthened by your mutual faith. You can gather with others anywhere, as our bodies are the temple, we were bought at a price. We are the church.

Not at all. Christians go to church to grow in their faith, get support, and discover brothers and sisters in Christ.
You seriosuly misread Matthew 6.
"And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward."
It means, don't do it to show off.

God's Word tells us to gather together with one another in prayer and worship.... We go to church to do that, to be with other believers, to pray, to sing, to worship God.
Matthew 6 doesn't say it is a sin....praying like the hypocrites did (out in the open and only for the praise of men, not to honor God) is wrong. People who do this have their reward (others notice and praise them and think highly of them). Those who worship God in truth and spirit are pleasing to God and their rewards will be in Heaven (being with God forever).

Try reading the chapter as if you were listening to Jesus speaking, and not just looking for something to criticize about Christianity.
You know, if you really got to know Jesus, I think you'd like Him. He really is a great Guy....

You misread scripture with great aplomb.
The passage refers to personal attitude, not attendance.
Try again.
