I work with digital cameras all day everyday or for 40 hours a week, which ever comes first. Well the brands I recomend or that we carry rank as follows:
1. Canon (fast processes and possible best lens)
2. Panisonic (Made leaps and bounds with Lecia lens)
3. Nikon (possibly as good as canon lens, slow processers)
4. Fuji (only select models are good, but use a glass lens)
5. Kodak(lower if weren't so easy to use, battery eaters!!)
6. Sony(getting better, but not quite there yet)
7. Olympus(good 35mm, not so good digital)
8. H/P(stick with their printers)
I would look into Casio and Samsung, I really wish we carried them so I would be able to get to know them better and be able to rank them. I think Casio would be in the top 4 and Samsung in the top 6 from what I've heard. As you can see the most important thing about a digital camera is a lens!!!
