I will be attempting skiing for the 1st time, so i don't know if this is gonna be a love or a hate. I dont want to spend a fortune on clothing that I may never use again. I will rent the equipment from the mountain and take a lesson, but I want to know what is a must for skiing clothing wise? Thanks in advance!

Ski pants are a must.

If you try to wear jeans you will be very sorry.

One thing is for sure, you will fall down. Without ski pants, you will be wet and cold and miserable.

Besides clothes you'll need to keep warm, some kind of waterproof ski pants is probably the most important piece of clothing you'll need. Otherwise, your pants could get wet (yes, even in dry snow), and then you'll be freezing and miserable all day, and more likely to get busted up skiing. All because you were too cheap to buy even the most basic waterproof pants. Even anything you buy for rain protection is better than nothing.

Also, don't forget something for your eyes. Protection both from glare and biting cold wind in your face as you ski. Again, you'll get busted if you can't see where you're skiing.

While you could spend hundreds of dollars on attire (and some avid skiiers do ...), I agree this is not the best choice for you with this being your first trip. Really, all you need is your regular winter wear and a couple of extras ...

a warm parka
a sweater/hoodie
a toque
a pair of gloves/mittens
long underwear
jeans (bring along a few pairs as they will get wet and make sure you've got some "give" in them). Ski pants, mind you, are preferable ...
T-shirts and turtlenecks
a pair of thick thermal socks (to wear over a regular pair of socks)
a pair of ski goggles
a fanny/belt pack is also helpful if you have one (to hold a wallet, chapstick, suntan lotion, car keys, granola bar, etc.)

Have fun! Skiing is an absolute blast!

Skiing is the most awesome thing that will ever happen to you!!! I tried it once and i loved it, thats why it is so expensive to go to one of those mountains. You should wear a coat, snow pants ( just incase you fall) boots, hat, gloves. Bring equipment for it will be cheaper then to rent if you have any equipment.

Depends on the temps.
20 or below, you need it all. ski bib, ski jacket, with vents in sides for when you get hot, the hot packs that go in your gloves and boots, the goggles, the hat, the gloves.
50 or so?
I wouldn't recommend it, because the slush ices over in shadow and I got my head... well, it wasn't that bad but it's no good for a beginner to be disoriented.
40 or so, you may wnat the pants and not the whole ski bib, because you can get too hot too easily.
Have fun!

at least a good jacket, a pair of gloves, a hat, and boots ( not necessarily snow boots) and goggles or sunglasses, you can use normal pants, warm socks, and you can use two shirts under your jacket, and the ipod or mp3 earphones are perfect, just make as if you were listening music, but i tell you something, I've never needed to use things in my ears, it is necessary if you go to the Himalayas but i went to Russia and i didn't need it

heavy jacket. waterproof pants (if you fall-which you will). sunglasses, sunscreen, and maybe a hat. it depends on the weather. right now it's about 70 degrees in FL. good luck. if you're anything like me, you'll end up on your butt most of the time. hopefully you're better.

remember your sunscreen! even in snow you can get sunburn.
