Christianity is outdated for todays progressive society, examples: banning gay marriages, banning alcohol, banning sex education for abstinance only education, banning science and history for christian science and history, banning spirituality for christian nonsense. PS Jesus did not preach love for those that said that: in matthew it says do not think ive come for peace ive come with a sword.

I would rather like to say that Christ is relevant. We have to believe the very foundations on which our life has to be built. the teachings which he taught - the teachings of forgiveness and love.
Do you think that at the time of Christ, there was no theft, adultery or any other immoral activities prevailing in that society?. Do you think that such activities are not there now? Yes they are still going on. Then how can you compare the past and the present. Ok I do agree that it has increased a bit more.
Nothing is outdated. The very foundation of humanity is love and forgiveness. If the world is still moving on because there are still some people who believe in these and also practise them. Imagine the world the moment everybody abandons these!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just think that world. You would get Your answer

I find that it is.
Some people would say.......Well, the Old Testament isn't relevant today, but I can tell you, from my own life that EVERYTHING in the WHOLE Bible is relevant in MY life.
My niece is on drugs and has had twins with another druggie. We now have the twins. And are currently having to do "tough love" with our niece. We are also having to "deal" with his family.
How is that scriptural?? How is it relevant? Well, God would frequently have to turn His back on His beloved people because they would keep screwing up!
The same is true with my niece.
We love you, but you can't keep abusing our family. We will keep our ears open for the "death cry" but other than that, right now...............she MUST come home with a repentant, humble heart, ready to change and get "right."
We also have to "deal" with his crazy behind family because we have the babies. His family truly is troublesome because they like drama and many of them are always in trouble with the law.
God ALWAYS told His precious people, DON'T get involved with "that people over there!" They will bring you grief and trouble. You marry the WHOLE family......not just one person. :-)
These FEW things are spot on TRUE about this situation with my niece.
This is just ONE example of ALL the ways the Bible is RELEVANT today.

You should ask that question as it pertains to any religion. Instead of thinking of a god, or worse thinking as an atheist, think of what it was like before you were born. Now you have an idea of the philosphy of "nothingness". Dwell on it, it may be scary at first, but if you dwell on it long enough, you will see it makes perfect sense. Then you can go on with your life. Remember though, the morality of the caveman is still relevant. Anything that hurts another is wrong.

No, Of course it is not. God stays the same, He never changes"I, the Lord, do not change."Malachi 3:6
"I am the Alpha and the Omega,
the beginning and the end,"
says the Lord,
"who is, and who was,
and who is to come,
the Almighty."
Revelations 1:8 Christianity involves more than a belief in God. The Christian faith owes its life and its unique character to the person and work of Jesus Christ. What we believe about Him is of eternal importance. Jesus came to earth the first time to "preach good tidings to the poor...to heal the brokenhearted...to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord" (Isaiah 61:1-2a). Jesus quoted the Isaiah passage and said, "Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing" (Luke 4:21). But the Isaiah 61 passage concludes with additional words, "and the day of vengeance of our God" (Isaiah 61:2b). When Jesus comes to earth the second time, the destruction of His enemies will be accomplished. Revelation 19:11-16 describes the time when all who have despised Him, and had part in His rejection, will be put under His feet.
Worshiping the Lord Jesus Christ is not paying homage to a helpless infant lying in a manger, nor are we worshiping a teacher standing by the shores of the Sea of Galilee. We are not worshiping a dead body hanging limply on a cross. We are worshiping the One who is now "King of kings and Lord of lords".and who is to be preeminent in the church

Some concepts and practices might be outdated, but the idea of Christianity is very relevant. Loving, believing and trusting in the one true God is not only relevant, but a spiritual necessity! :-)

I don't know about Christianity, if you're talking about organized religion, but I would say that Christ is always relevant. If you're tired of the Bible, why not look at some other Christian texts, such as A Course in Miracles? Personally, I find that book much more relevant. I feel like Jesus was refreshed and ready to speak to our generation.

If the same scientific experiments that lead to advances in medicine, aviation, physics, etc had been done in ancient times there is no doubt the results of those experiments would have been the same. It is the secular and world people who have always dragged religious people kicking and screaming into prosperity while religious people have been able to do nothing but ‘plagiarize’ knowledge by falsely citing ‘god’ as the source of human knowledge.
Christian principles were never needed or relevant.

You either don't go to church or you are evangelical. It is irrelevant if you are young and want approval to have casual sex, do drugs, beat up people you don't like, drink and generally be socially unacceptable.
However society works through civility and the bible and its teachings were there to help teach people to be civilized in a way that was pleasing to God. Sending Christ to us was God's way of reconciling his love for us with his commandments through forgiveness for our sins. Forgiveness and tolerance are the key parts of Christ's teachings and give a way to have faith without being perfect, thus allowing us to be human and still have a shot at everlasting life.
Also, getting married, having children or suffering tragedy makes Christ and the church more relevant for the comfort and guidance the teachings and community they bring.

That is an outstanding question! Is peace, security and well-being relevant today? Are strong, happy families relevant today? Is living in a world without the threat of crime, terrorism and carnal warfare relevant today?
The needs of humankind are fundamental in nature and inherent within us. For this reason, our needs and desires never change and those things which fulfill them never change either. If we lived three thousand years ago, we would still need and want the same things: food, clothing, shelter, good friends, loved ones, happy family lives, decent income, security from the threat of terrorism, war, and so on. Yes?
Now consider those needs and desires in the light of the two greatest commandments according to Jesus: (1) to love God with our whole heart, soul, mind and strength and (2) to love our neighbor as ourself. (Matthew 22:37-39). If everyone actually put these two commandments into practice what would we have? On a family level, community level, city and state level? What would we have nationwide, worldwide?
Just take a look at one: loving our neighbor as ourselves. Love does not work evil to one's neighbor. Love of neighbor therefore would preclude us from dumping our garbage in our neighbor's yard, calling our neighbor names, hating our neighbor or refusing to live next door because he is of a different ethnicity. Love of neighbor would also require that we do good towards them - and not just refrain from doing bad. So love of neighbor would move us to take them grocery shopping when they are unable, shovel snow from their sidewalk if they are elderly, mow their lawn if they do not know how.
Love of neighbor is not restricted to literal neighbors - it includes our parents and spouses. If we loved our spouse as ourself, would we commit adultery or domestic violence? Well, would we do that to ourselves?
Christianity is most definitely relevant today. The concept of loving God and loving neighbor will never be outdated. Wisdom is proved righteous by its works.
