I am currently teaching music and art on Native American reservations as part of a two year contract. After my contract is up, I plan to try going pro with my music...I play guitar and sing. I can still return to my old job I had in Wisconsin as they allowed me a two year hiatus. My teaching, for at least these two years, was in part a return to my family's heritage...I am so thankful I never had to grow up on the reservation the way my parents did and I see why they left, It is not all bad, and by being there, maybe I can influence at least some of the younger ones that there is a better life beyond what they know...never know...I might stay with it, but my music is important too and I want to have others enjoy it as well...my music has been a big part of my life for a long time. I have been playing guitar, keyboards and flute a long time and was in a local band for almost fifteen years...I am almost thirty now.

For your career, follow to where your heart guides you. There may be a few bumps along the way, but you will find the path.

I used to own a restaurant, but right now I'm a property investor. I'm still trying to figure out what to do for a second job, I'm not sure if I want to stay in food anymore. Maybe I'm just burned out. Until that perfect thing comes along, I'll stick with what I'm doing now at age 34. Have you tried temping? That'll give you a variety of jobs you can try and see if you're interested in them.

I'm a sales associate at a grocery store.
Then again I'm only 17, heh.

Don't feel too bad about not knowing what you want to do yet. It's more common than you think. All you have to do is get on the ball and get it sorted. It's not really as scary as it seems. Decide what you want (this is often the hardest part...) and then just work hard until you get it! :)

Education is the key, go back to school, any school, and get as much knowledge as you can get so you'll be top of the list when you finally decide what it is you like to do. Most people work a job that was just something that was available at the time until they could get what they wanted, they're stuck now. What ever you like to do should be your choice of career paths

Years ago, I signed up with a temp agency. I did some pretty boring assignments/jobs, & finally wound up on an assignment/temp job at a motion pic co. They liked me and asked me to stay. I also took some classes at a community college to keep up with technology, and classes/subjects I enjoyed. The local community colleges used to have a career planning class & counselors.
