Yes - you can if your home is large enough to accomodate the guests.

One of my friends is doing this on feb 9th...she's getting married on her terrace. They're making the appropriate seating arrangements and calling a priest to perform the ceremony to their place.

However, if your place isn't big enough I suggest you either opt for a friend's place that is bif enough or hire a hall if you have the budget

Certainly, it's a great way to have a wedding. People have done that for centuries! If you mean your parents' home, don't forget that they are going to need help with the cleaning to get everything just right. And now is the time for any long-delayed decorating plans, especially the ones you had for your own sewing machine, fabrics, or talents: they will not likely get done once you are in your own home, so make those curtains or whatever it was you've been planning to do for the old folks before you go.

But having a wedding a home does more than make it a much more family, intimate, loving and memorable thing, it saves enough money that you can afford to indulge mom and dad in a real spiffing up of the place.

Think about who you know who might be able to make your wedding dress, too, especially if you keep it relatively simple in shape, and make the special part from appliqued lace and beading. I'm willing to bet there are such talents among your aunts and great-aunts and grandmothers and so on, including all their friends.

Relatives are likely to want to do all the cooking, but unless you have family with real experience at that sort of thing, you might talk to the nearest deli about some good trays. Then the relatives can indulge in "bring your specialty," but you know you have some substantial food to keep the drinks from going onto empty stomachs.

And don't buy a lot of alcohol; it only creates the challenge to use it up! Get some varieties of nice wine, maybe only champagne and white wine, due to stain difficulties, and some sodas and simple mixed drink ("well drink") stuff, but not in large quantities.

Do you have relatives and friends who are musicians, or is there an experienced DJ in the family? Then hopefully there's also room for dancing, at least one or two couples at a time. In good weather, send them out to the patio or back yard. An easy, comfortable, friendly party!

What a wonderful, wonderful wedding that will be!

I think the idea of getting married in a place that you love is the most romantic and most memory making idea I have ever heard of. Depending on the size of your guest list and the time of year, you could incorporate all of the house. Stair way, (nothing more beautiful than watching the bride FLOW down the stairs) hall way, ( the suspense of waiting for the Bride to round the corner) the back yard ( your idea are endless, just remember the BRIDE is the number one attraction at the wedding). You could even split up the seating of the guest as long as they can see the BRIDE, they will be happy anywhere they sit.

Don't forget to add the family and the pets.

Remember, this is the most important day of your life. Fill it with memories of all the thing that you love so much.

Most important, invite God to the wedding.
Happy Planning

YES! Plenty of people get married in their own home! My Dad and Step mom got married in her childhood home. All you need is an officiant that is legal to marry you! You can get a Justice of the Peace as well to come to your home and marry you!

A definite "yes" as I was married in mine. We did not have a lot of money then, about twenty years ago. I even cooked the food myself with the help of my mother-in-law. My father-in-law is a pastor but he did not conduct the ceremony. Another pastor friend did it. The piano music was provided by someone from church and we even had a little choir singing love songs.

A wedding is about binding two people who love each other in "holy matrimony" and not for feeding and entertaining the "masses", most of whom you do not even know or in a worse case, do not even want to know. Save your precious money that you both have worked so hard for, for a fabulous vacation as you both deserve it!!

If you live in the USA. If you live in the UK they are VERY strict about who performs & where marriages take place.

In the US you do need someone legal to perform the ceremony. Judges & JPs have to stay within their jurisdiction. Ministers/officiants can go across county & state lines.

To find an officiant type into your search engine your city, state & wedding officiant (no 's' on the end) You will have a choice of a few. Find someone that will suit your needs & personalities best.

yes at the county court house...call get information first and find out if there is a waiting period...depending on the state law there could be none but you might have to go for lab test 4 hours before tieing the knot...in florida there is no test just an application 3 day waiting period and this cerimony can be performed at the court house in minutes

good luck and best wishes

In England, no you can't, unless you pay for a licence, and I'm sure there is some stipulation involved, along the lines of a minimum number of people can reasonably be expected to marry there.

In England and Wales, no, not at present. You can only get married in a place of worship which has been approved, a register office or a venue which has been approved by the local authority.
