Sounds like it.
The bright light or 'blind spot' the comes before a migraine is called the 'aura'. This then disappears and an intense pain follows. The pain can be on one side of the head or inone place above an eye for instance. Often though it can be all over and feel like your head is in a vice.
There are some very good medications you can get from the doctor that can eliminate the pain, particularlry the 'triptan' class of drugs such as SUMATRIPTAN or IMIGRAN as it is better known.
Can have a few odd side effects like tingly fingers and a warm drink feelsreally hot when you drink it, but easier to bear than the wretched pain of a migrain.
One word of advice - if you get your prescription medicine as described above - always take it when you first notice the symptons and likely onset - don't wait till it really hurts.
A lot of people take ordinary analgesics first even though they have no real effect, hoping that it is just a headache. If you have had the 'aura' though it almost always is a migraine on the way so take the IMIGRAN right away.
Best of luck

Well, the light may be an aura - which is a neurological visual distruption leading up to the pain, or what you think here is the migraine. Everyone who has aura experiences them somewhat differently, but when you say a "bight light" do you mean a blind spot, its so bright? That is a very common aura.
Pain is a difficult thing to measure and discribe. Migraine is generally discribed as pain on one side of the head, usually behind the temple, forehead, and or eye, sometimes radiating along the side of the face. It is usually described as "pounding" "throbbing" or "stabbing" pain. Pain like "dull" "aching" or "pressure" may be tension headaches, or another type of headache alltogether. Im not a headache expert. I happen to have daily chronic migraine, so I know what a migraine feels like....but Im not as well versed with other types of headache.
Regardless of the type of pain, if you are getting these headaches frequently, make an appointment with your dr. They may have you see a neurologist who may run some tests and give you medications to keep them from coming back as often (or to take when you get them) Theres no reason to live in pain.

A migraine is typically characterized by a pain generally on one side of the head or face, sensitivity to light and sound,, nausea, and strangely enough, cravings for certain foods....I get migraines when I drink milk, or eat eggs, both of which I'm allergic to. I worked at a factory once that manufactured tiny plastic parts of which I was responsible for inspecting and I bought a pair of glasses with slight magnification to help me see the parts better and after ONE day of wearing those things, I was puking and had a migraine...so vision problems and allergies are definitely two reasons for migraines. Excedrin Migraine helps tremendously along with Coke, Coffee, and dark chocolate....some migraines can last for days, so take care of your pretty head...and also try alternating hot and cold packs on the pain site or a relaxing neck massage to increase blood circulation to the brain.

What is a migraine?
Migraine is characterised by its one-sided nature.
A migraine is a throbbing, intense headache in one half of the head. It can affect people of all ages. The cause of migraine is not known.
During an attack, the blood vessels in the brain dilate and then draw together with stimulation of nerve endings near the affected blood vessels. These changes to the blood vessels are probably what cause the pain, but migraine is still a condition that is poorly understood.

Yes, it sounds like it.
You need to switch your computer off, because looking at it will be making your migraine much worse.
Take some painkillers, then go and lie down in the dark, with your eyes closed, try to relax a bit. It will take a few hours, but this should clear it.

sounds very much like it. Do you also feel sick but then the headach starts to go after you've thrown up? If so it is migraine. See your doctor about it as s/he will be able to prescribe something more suitable than most over the counter stuff.
