Not sure if this is what you mean, but as an exit approaches you get the name of the roads leading off the motorway, then three signs with decreasing stripes on them. The first shows three stripes, and the last one has only one, and is located just prior to the "slip lane" you use as an exit on the motorway.

There are 3 countdown markers indicating the next junction. Then you're at the junction, & there are no signs.
