she looks out our back door, which is like a big window, and she either sees her own reflection or she is seing another kind of animal walking through our back yard. when she sees whatever it is, she starts shrieking and hissing and howling at it wakes me up. AND i have to go to school the next day!!! any suggestions of what to do or maybe what is wrong with her?
she has never done this before, it just started this week.
she usually does this around 1-5 in the morning.

There's nothing wrong with her; somethings getting her attention. If she's not neutered, she could be reacting to a tom roaming about.
Is it possible to put a covering over the glass of the door at her eye level?

Try putting her in another room with food, water, and a litter box until you wake up or say bad cat and she'll learn to stop trust me I have three cats

Maybe she is in heat. You should cover the window so she cannot see her own reflection or out the window. Although if she were in heat this will probably not work.,

I'm with Mickey, cover the window with something that the cat can not get behind. They will try to get behind the curtian, so you may need to tack it to the wall somehow so that she can't get behind it to look out. If thats not it, she's probably in heat.

"Something" making a sound?A presense? She has a heighten awareness, more so than people. You'll have to live with it until it resolves itself.Try sleeping in livingroom or a different room one night, maybe she'll sleep throught the night.
