No, a chi is the best out there.
it straightens your hair from the inside out with damaging it too much. i love them, and it doesnt take long to straighten your hair, and it will stay straight all day. even with thick hair.
i recomend them.

check to make sure it has a teflon coating the teflon will prevent snags.

mine doesn't, and if yours does that you should take it back to the salon you purchased it from... you don't pay $100 for the name
