I had this same problem. I suggest you speak to your neighbour and tell them that this dog barking is disturbing you. If it continues you need to contact the environmental health department of your local council who will write to these idiots and warn them to stop this noise and at the same time they will tell you they have done this and send you a form to fill in should this nuisance continue still more. You will need to note the times and dates of the noise and for how long it lasts.
I feel sorry for you because I have had this experience. There are no fixed hours for this noise, it is considered a pest at ANY time of the day or night. You have a right to complain so feel free to claim your rights!

Yes, the neighbours may be out and not aware that the dog is barking - possibly because of separation anxiety. \it is worth having a word with them to give them the chance to put things right. If after a week or two there is no improvement, call the police and register your complaint. They will visit the people and warm them. I suspect there may be some ASBOs in the pipleline regarding this sort of problem as it is noise pollution and general disturbance. Good luck with it!

Call the Animal Control dept. in the town/city you live in and ask them what the law is on barking dogs (noise ordinance) .
Not fun at that time of night. Also, you might try talking to the people who own the dog about it being a nuisance. If they don't do something, then report them to animal control for a nuisance dog.

check out what your city's noise ordinance is.....That means that any "unacceptable" noise is not allowed during a certain amount of hours at night. Usually midnight to 6am in most cases. If the dog is still a bother to you, approach your neighbor first. Be kind, and just let them know that the barking is keeping you awake, ask if they can let the dog out earlier, and bring in by 11. If that does not work, you can file a complaint. Call your police dept (non emergency) and explain to them, they will direct you to the right services if they cannot help.

yes and your local council will send you a form to record the times. All you have to do is keep a log of it for a short while and send it back - they'll do the rest. however, you could ring your council and ask them to write to the dog owners now. They'll send a letter saying that a complaint has been made (they won't say from whom!) and that they've asked for it to be recorded - sometimes that's enough for the selfish owners to keep their dog under control.
If all else fails, do what Mr. GorgeousFluffpot does (to a dog at the back of us with selfish owners) - lob a nice lump of laxative chocolate over the fence and listen to the dog gobbble it up. Now sit back and snigger as you think of the doggie pooing all over the neighbour's carpets in a few hours' time .... small compensation for the barking, I know, but makes you feel better.

Well the bylaw here is no loud excessive noise after 10 pm, and not before 7 am. Check your local bylaws to see if you have the right to complain. But before you do, maybe talk to the owner of the dog and see if she/he can maybe stop the dog from barking all night long.

sure, irresponsible canines proprietors are a royal discomfort. And, in case you own canines your self, you want to be careful about complaining. you don't desire an irrate neighbor throwing poison meat on your backyard. i do not recognize the answer. extra regulations? Heck, we've a lot of regulations now, yet they don't seem enforced. canines could by no skill be outdoors after darkish. yet, many human beings have canines that are outdoors 24/7. i do not think that should be allowed until eventually you stay way out interior the country and your canines are guarding the flocks or something. yet, regardless of if there replaced right into a regulation, how ought to a city ever have the money to implement it? the same irresponsible those who enable their canines to bark all evening are the same ones that permit their canines to run free and attack human beings. canines will attack in the journey that they imagine the area they are operating free on belongs to them. they don't desire to be mistreated or taught to attack. maximum canines will preserve what they imagine belongs to them and if allowed to run free, that is the entire community. It grew to develop into the kind of difficulty in Texas they in simple terms exceeded a state regulation which will deliver the owner of a canines who attacks and both heavily injures or kills someone to reformatory for as a lot as twenty yrs. per chance extra states want to pass the same regulation.

Depending on the neighbors of the offending dog, it can be any hour of the day or night. Some people - myself included - work nights, so we have to sleep during the day. I have the right to sleep during the day and I have the right to "quiet enjoyment" of my property. That clause is in most rental agreements and is enforced with any noise complaint from a resident. It doesn't matter what time of day it is.

Well, assuming noise laws are akin to those for cars, try this:
92: The horn. Use only while your vehicle is moving and you need to warn other road users of your presence. Never sound your horn aggressively. You MUST NOT use your horn
* while stationary on the road
* when driving in a built up area between the hours of 11.30 pm and 7.00 am
except when another vehicle poses a danger.
