Hi Liam, Diane here I tried to obtain, my grandma's divorce papers last year, there is a £25:00 fee for them to even start the process. I didn't take it any further than that, I just wanted to know what year they had divorced. I got the address and application form from the main registry office, where I live. Email me if you need any help good luck, I'm off to find a g-g-grandad now.

It depends on the date they were divorced. The majority of divorce records after 1922, have been destroyed.Since that date only a random sample of about 10% a year are kept and filed " for the records" You may be lucky your grandmothers` could be one of those. If not, there is no way that you can get the official facts of or for the divorce. I tried to get get them for one of my relatives, last year. I was un-lucky. Perhaps there is still some relative or old friend that could give you the reason for the divorce. If it was before 1922. you can apply to the records office in the area where they were divorced, or the main family division office. I don`t have the address to hand, but if you google it , it will come up.
