What are some brand names of pasta I can purchase, I'm on a diet (not diabetic, just regular). Which ones should I stay away from? How about calorie count?

the only kind for you and everyone is Whole Wheat Pasta...it is high in fiber and stay away from white pasta...calories are the same in both but you will feel fuller with the Whole Wheat type.

keep in mind that you need fiber and that will help you feel full and loose weight

pasta is flour and eggs
no matter what you Will get carbs and calories
carbs turn to sugars in your system if not worked off
wheat pasta is better for you for the reason there is allot more useful vitamins and minerals as white pasta ,like white bread (unless fortified) is just empty calories.
Also you can get a glut ten free pasta from health stores which is better ,but has a rubbery finish when cooked and in my opinion is not very good.
remember it is not necessarily the pasta but the sauce and sides you have with it that can really add up the calories.
Stay away from creams and butter also that side of garlic bread you want to have with it.
cook your pasta in water or light broths
finish it with a traditional tomato sauce or toss it with fresh vegs ,extra virgin olive oil with garlic ,basil touch of pepper
and perhaps red pepper flakes
P.S. think do you really want to put that fresh grated Parmesan on top

Check out something called a Spaghetti squash. It is a squash that when cooked falls into spaghetti-like ribbons. Doesn't taste exactly like spaghetti, it is a little sweeter, but is DELICIOUS served with pasta sauce. I BELIEVE it is lower in carbs than spaghetti, so if you're big on the whole low-carb diet thing it might be a good option. Try it...You'll like it!

At this element your water could desire to be boiling and additionally you are able to drop the pasta in. Grate the cheese, set the desk. The pasta could desire to be approximately waiting, examine to work out that it is cooked on your liking. executed? Serve, pour somewhat olive oil on the pasta and then the sauce which you have have been given slaved over. Pour yet another glass of wine (this time all of it is yours) and luxuriate on your meal.

the calories in pastas are virtually the same no matter which ones you buy. Wholemeal pastas are better for you but calorie wise are almost the same...they dont taste as nice tho.

You probably want to steer clear of the egg noodles and raviolis and tortellini for fat content. And ramen and any other fried noodle. Otherwise the fat and sodium are OK in them.

I buy Barilla, DeCecco, store brand, always dried. Stay away from Martha Gooch though. That stuff is nasty, sticky and starchy.

Buy tomato or spinach pasta (reddish or greenish color). It's very healthy and low in calories. Barilla is good, but I'm not sure if they make tomato or spinach flavor. They may.
