Incorrect. Each country has their own legal drinking age, and none of them are 12. The Commander of each base has the authority to enforce the US's legal drinking age of 21 off base if he chooses to do so. It is 21 on base.

The legal age to drink in Europe is not 12. The legal age in Germany is 16. As long as you're 18 you should be able to drink in Europe in the Navy. When I was stationed in Germany you had to 18 to buy alcohol at AAFES.

Where did you get your half-baked info? The legal age for drinking in Europe is NOT 12 years old. I spent 3 1/2 years in Sardinia (in case you don't know, it's a huge island off the west coast of Italy, north of Sicily) and have traveled in many European countries and have never seen kids lining up at the local pub! What in the world are they teaching kids in schools these days or do you all sleep through class?

I've never been to Europe, but I was in the Navy for 6 years, half of which I was under 21 for, and I have been in several different countries, mostly in Asia and have never been asked for an ID. I was only 18 when we went to Japan and Korea and Australia.
Most places you go will know that you are American military and they won't care. They know you have money to spend and that's all they care about.

When i was in, it was the battle fleet commanders decision about if they were going to up hold the drinking age at 21, plus the fact when sailors drink we tend to get carried away with it, which usually leads to trouble anyways. Your CO can say yes but if higher ups say no, well oh well.

Legal age for England is 18.....but that is not what I would call very well enforced...........................if you can drink that will be up to your ship and the captain etc , as for anyone else off the ship asking for id then its pretty much a given you will be served.

Depends on what your command policy is? The CO can order you to wait until you are 21 if he desires. In reality I doubt he will. Ask your LCPO or divo. They will be able to find out the correct answer.
