What is the best advice in dealing with a barn manager's over- inflated ego? She is rude, aggressive, uncommunicative and a bully. She thinks she owns the boarders horses and dictates how much food they get. Everyone thinks she is rediculous but can't change the fact she is there. It's a control and power thing. She makes the barn atmosphere very unpleasant. How would you handle that? Remember my two horses are there and some people are very vengeful. The owner is away on business until July and unreachable.

Find another barn. If she won't feed your horses the way you want them fed, it may put them at risk.

Sometimes people need to feel "in charge" and must take the upper hand. It's a security thing.

You need to exercise "very long vision" right now and think about what's the most important - the horses.

So let her be the lead - who cares really at the end of the day. Stoke her ego a little by asking her for advise on the animals, and show that you value her. Be careful not to sound condescending.

I've come to learn that some people take extra 'care' when dealing with - there's a lot of them in my office. Kill'em with kindness! Works for me.

Good luck

Ignore her attitude, remember you can do nothing about what she is doing until July.
Keep a journal of her daily activity's, what she says, what she does and what time of the day these unpleasant things occur.
Make sure you have witnesses that will back you up.
Good Luck.
