No it is not wierd. You have poly cats. I think they are really cute. I have never had one but my friends have. You are lucky that you have them. Some people don't take kitties like that but you were kind and did. You are a really great person.

Your veterinarian may have referred to your cat as "polydacty" which means the presence of more then five digits on the foot, rather than a different breed of cat. On occasion cats are born with extra digits and this can accur on the front feet or all four. They actually do not require any different care than any other cat with the exception of more claws to trim! Many of them actually look cute with their extra toes and slightly bigger feet. Enjoy your special kitty! I once owned a male cat with 6 toes. His name was Lucky.

That is actually perfectly normal take it from a girl that grew up on a farm with lots of cats. I have seen some with 8 toes on one foot. It just means somewhere along the line there was inbreeding and I know that sounds gross, but true other than her toes she should be perfectly normal and don't worry about a thing.

No that is not weird. It's kinda normal! The type of cat you have used to be called Hemingway cats, after Earnest Hemingway. The type of cats you have are polydactyls. If you live in the country, those are excellent cats to have.

Depending on how the toes are spread apart, it will be amazing to watch them use their paws like we use our hands. What you've got is truly a blessing. Enjoy your many toed felines! One more thing, make sure to check their toes. Make sure they can clean between them and there aren't any growths between them. You don't want their feet to become infected.

The term for your cat is "polydactyl". One of the best cats I ever had joy of befriending was my cat "lucky", a Polydactyl feline with 28 toes (yes thats 7 toes on every paw) Earnest Hemingway was known for the polydactyl cats that reside at one of his homes and many believe that a good number of modern day Polydactyl cats hail from the felines in that area. It is a normal genetic variant and should cause no harm to your cat whatsoever, just consider him "extra special"

The writer Ernest Hemingway's cats had extra toes. That's called " polydactyl". There are still descendants of the original cat he owned living at the estate. All cats are beautiful, regardless .

You love your cat, right? Who cares about the number of toes?

Calico cats generally are all female and one of the signs the cat has the calico gene is that it has 6 toes. A male cat can have a calico gene but not be a calico. A calico is a cat with three or more colors of fur with the ever-obvious surplus of toes. I am willing to lay odds that your cat's mother was calico or had calico genes.

Unusual, but not too wierd. It's called polydactylism. Many of the cats at the Hemingway house are polydactyls. I think it's neat.

There's a good article on it here:
