my wife went outside this morning, and our neighbor's dog was lying dead in the middle of the common driveway. She buried it, and came home crying, telling me that she didn't have it in her to tell the neighbors, who aren't home right now, that their dog had been hit by a car over nite. she wants me to tell them. who should?

Go together - strength in numbers.

Since it's already buried, you should probably offer your wife a steady hand and go with her to tell the neighbors when they return.

It may have been better had your wife called animal control or the agency that retrieves dead animals in your area.

Why would your wife bury the neighbors dog without telling you first. Kind of strange that she burried it. Why wouldn't she just notifed the neighbor. The neighbor may assume that she killed the dog because she burried it. I'd exhume the body and then address it.

Its up to who wants too, it really makes no difference who tells the neighbor.

She should have never buried that animal.
Now your neighbors are going to think one of you hit their dog and are trying to cover it up.
Just go over together and tell them what happened.
Good Luck.

firstly i think she was wrong (tho probably well meaning) to bury their dog-that's a ritual the neighbors should carry out.......anyways....
your wife seems more upset by it, so maybe you should tell them....but for crying out loud SOMEBODY tell them

I think the two of you should go together. You, because you are not too emotional, and your wife because she is the one you found and buried their beloved pet.

If she is too upset maybe it would be better if you did it.
