Painting media are the type of materials you use in a painted work.

You can paint with oil, tempra, watercolour, acrylic etc and draw with pastel, charcoal, chalk, metal point etc.

The media also includes what you paint or draw onto. For example, canvas, wooden panel, paper, linen etc

Oil, water (not acrylics, which is painting) white spirit, egg ... whatever you use to suspend your pigments to manufacture colours, or what you dilute your colours with.
That's what we painters call "medium"...

... or is it a person that opens communication between you and the spirits ? May be quite inspirational, I should try.
