Since I fell over and bashed my two front teeth the other week, Ive had a sort of soft bllister come up on the fleshy tissue part behind them. Its making it hard for me to eat or speak (some would say what a blessing!), but no its really sore and irritating. Does anyone know what it can be and could a dentist or doctor give me something to get rid of it? Or any over the counter stuff which would help (Ive tried Bonjela but that doesnt help at all). I say is it an abscess because I can remember having one on a tooth when I was about 5 years old and all I can remember is running out of the dentits surgery screaming in pain, which doesnt exactly help with my phobia of dentists when I go next week.

You can use Ibuproffen and Ambesol to help numb the pain until you get to the dentist. It may be abcessed. You might need antibiotics, maybe even a root canal.

The blister on the tissue is commonly refered to as a fistula. It's a small, thin, hair like opening that leads from the root of the tooth to the outside, or the gum area in your mouth. It allows the infection to be secreted rather than keep swelling larger and larger in the tissue. You may have a nasty taste in your mouth, that's the infection. They usually appear when a tooth has been subjected to trauma, or decay causing infection is present. Since you said you fell and hit your teeth I would assume they have had a serious trauma. Either the tooth or teeth have been fractured at the root level, or they have sustained such a blow that the trauma has caused the nerve to back off, die, or abscess. In either case you will need to see your Dentist for x ray to determine the extent of the damage and your options to restore them. If they are abscessed, they will require root canal therapy and then crowns afterward. If they are fractured, they have no options except extractions. Your Dentist will go into further detail of how to restore your teeth or replace the extracted ones.

Do call immediately, because the pain you are experiencing now will only increase over this weekend. You will probably need antibiotics, pain and anti inflamitory med's starting today. Dentist always, or always have someone else, who takes care of their emergency patients during after hours. Don't feel like you are a bother, it happens all the time. Hope I've been of some help. Good luck!

It May Well Be An Abscess, Or It Could Be A Sort Of Bruise Due To Bashing Your Teeth. The Best Thing To Do Is To Go To An Emergency Dental Clinic, Where They Can Sort It Out As Soon As Possible. As Its A Trauma, There Is The Possibility You May Need Root Canal Treatment Aswell.

Well since you fell on your teeth, you probably fractured them possibly down through the root. It sounds like you do have an abcess. If the area seems to feel warmer than the rest of your mouth that is also a sign that it is an infection. You very likely could need a root canal. Definitely get to the dentist asap. I see you have an appt next week, hopefully you mean Mon or Tues. If it is later in the week I'd call them and let them know what is going on because they will probably fit you in the schedule earlier as an emergency and call you in an antiobiotic right away even before your appt. Good luck!

If you fell over and bashed your two front teeth in you should get them checked by a dentist or doctor. You may have split them and it could be the roots protruding inside your gums.

Or yes...you could well have an infection in the gums due to the fall in which case the docs and dentist are the best place of call again.

Don't leave it to clear up by itself...if you have an infection in your gums it could get very serious and lead to something like blood poisoning.

I'm a nurse. You have to see a doctor for the proper care and treatment. You can inform the doctor of your fear for a pill to take that will make you more relaxed during the procedure. You need a prescription to rid yourself of this infection before it gets even worse.

Most likely you do have an abscess. you might now need go see your dentist and have a root canal on the teeth you hit. when you hit your teeth they go in to shock and die. Your nerve might be dead.

Try soaking a piece of cotton wool in very hot water and holding it over the area, it might open it up and let the gunk out.

Or, for pain relief, soak a piece of cotton wool in whisky or gin etc. and press that on it for a couple of minutes so it numbs.
