If you have family who have been diagnosed with colon cancer you should know the importance of being screened as you are at a higher risk of developing colon cancer yourself. If caught early, colon cancer is curable and treatable. If caught in advanced stage it is terminal. Colon cancer is the second largest cause of death from cancer (next to lung). I am a 41 year old who was diagnosed with advanced stage colon cancer and I did not have a family history of it. Please do not let cost prevent you from being screened especially if you have symptoms. You want a colonoscopy, as it is the best test. Regarding blood tests - it is the CEA that is measured for colon cancer. The blood test is not a diagnostic tool as it can give false positive and false negative results. It is only used during the treatment of cc.

I'm a nurse. I'm sorry I wouldn't know of a free place, but I would call around. You could be seen at a county hospital for help. The test you need is a colonoscopy, a flex sig would give you the same results. Ask for payment plan options. I'm sorry I wasn't much help to you, but I hope this information given is useful.

Start drinking lots of water. I'm not kidding here. Stop drinking coffee, too.
