Convicts are wicked and deserve punishment?

This is a topic for my debate . can you plz help me! I have to oppose the motion.

That's hard - crimes do deserve punishment, so opposing it is dificult. Perhaps you could say that they need rehabilitation instead, so they do not reoffend once they are back out in society. Not all convicts are necessarily wicked. It depends on the nature of the crime.
