strech, down and all. I even come early to walk around the shallow end and warm up. Ok where's all the endorphins and good feelings I was promised? I feel like something Yahoo won’t let me type. I am tired. I have not lost an ounce. I’ve been doing this for two months now and the only thing I have noticed is more laundry (towels) and I am a bit more flexible.
How long am I going to have to suffer before I see some rewards?

Can't walk. Arthritis is so bad I can't walk around the block without pain.

The flexibility is a great step! That is a sign that you are getting somewhere. Sometimes, it takes a longer time to see the visible rewards. Just think of it this way......you are out there doing your part! At least you can say you are active and consistent at it! Good for you! Don't get discouraged. I do that sometimes and I have to remind myself that I am out there doing it for myself. The weight may not be coming off because you could be building underlying muscle. I gained 10 pounds when I started to work out regularly! 10 pounds! And I was SOOOOO discouraged about that until I read up on why I was gaining weight. About 3 months down the road, I was losing about 2 pounds a week. As for endorphins, they will come. It takes time for those feeling to come about as well. Keep up the GREAT work! You can do it. Good luck to you!

All you've noticed is that your are more flexible?

No better breathing? No less pain at all (ignore the muscle pain, I'm talking about the arthritis)?

Have you tried walking instead? Maybe cut the water aerobics down to once a week and take a walk for same time instead. (Go walk around a shopping center if the weather is bad).

Then you won't be as sore and after a couple months you should have enough energy to pick up another aerobics class.

You are trying to change a lifetime couch potato into a lean mean exercising machine overnight.

It's going to take time, but please try. My parents were the poster children for couch potatos and in the elder years paid an incredibly heavy price.

Good luck to you.

First of all, don't concern yourself with visible "rewards" immediately. We all want overnight results but this is the wrong path. You say you already are more flexable, and that is one good result.

However, perhaps you need to "shock" (don't get scared, this is just a term) your body in other ways using other exercises.
I would move from the water aerobics to mild gym exercises using machines, starting out slowly to learn and gauge the tolerance to each one. As you find the machines you like that also don't cause you arthritic pain, begin to progress by increasing the weight level as tolerated, trying to increase each time you work out.

Muscles burn fat, and we all need tight strong muscle. An added benefit is that strong limbs are less painful even if arthritic.

Do this with a healthy diet of lean meat and vegetables and you will see progress---I promise;)

Many people lose weight but still look the same. The problem is that you are losing water weight not the actual fat which gives you that "heavy" feeling. Once you burn the fat you can and will see a difference.
