It's never too late to return to school! Some of the most successful people in the world started out late! If you are ready, that's all that it takes. People mature at different rates. I'm often found saying, 'Some people need life experience to learn, others just a good book!' You fall in the category of needing to experience life! Your life skills will actually help you to succeed at what ever you choose to do. You've experienced first hand the 'work' difficulties that life offers you without a speciality under your belt. Making less money has a way of waking you up! But now you know what you need to succeed, don't you? Go talk to a guidance counsellor. Tell him/her what you'd like to do. Find out what you need to do to get back into school. Ask about your financial concerns. Where there is a will, there's a way!
Good Luck!

My daughter was born in 1957, she married age 17 and quit high school, She had two children. In 1992 she graduated from U of IL with a four point average. Went on to IL State U and graduated from there in 1997. Did she think about her age before going to college? Yes, but I told her she would be 35 when she graduated from school the first time. Now she could be 35 with no education or only a GED or she could be 35 with a degree in teaching and then go on for a higher degree. Well she is in New York now, with three teachers and a staff of 19 under her. Is she glad she got the education, Yes. Does she make more money than she would have with no education. You bet! She also did better in school than the 19 year old students, because she did her homework, studied and realized the chance she was getting for a better life. Go for it.

It is never too late. My sister got her bachelors degree and then went back to school when she was about 35 and got her masters. 30 is still young and it is great you want to continue on with your education! Good luck to you!

Yup, if you're in an iron lung...but you still could get Independent Study through the Disabled Student Services (is it still called that?).
I was nearly 40 when I went to Jr. College, then on to university to earn the BA. Guru hit the nail on the head, listen to him.
(attending as an 'over 35er' turned out to be more fun than effort, homework aside).
Go, get smarter, have a blast.

Thirty years old is nothing! In the local university that I attended while I was in my forties, the over-thirties sometimes outnumbered the kids right out of high school. We were better students, too, and the professors seemed to appreciate us. We "got" their jokes, were focused and responsible, and really wanted to be there.
