gulping in air with his food or water, just as many people do. It is irritating and upsetting, but it is, just like with people, not usually physically harmful or anything more than irritating.

dogs get hiccups just like we do............

The same reason humans get hiccups. Excessive in-take of air. They'll most often, like humans, get it when they eat to fast. Persistent hiccups (for more than, say, 6 hours at a time) is a sign of something else and you may want to consult your veterinarian but frequent bouts of hiccups isn't anything to worry about.

Don't worry hiccups for a small puppy is perfectly normal. They're growing and if and adult dog has the hiccups is growing old. LOL
I have a 8 month old and he gets them. People and dogs alike get them

probably for the same reason we do...is she eating her food too fast? if she is, well they sell these dog toys now that are kind of like puzzles but you put the dog food inside of it. that way she has to work at it and think about how to get the food out. there's no way she can gobble her food up.
