or stick with 7.something?

i dunno with Adobe, it's necessary, but it all seems top-heavy. Will it be better or worse with the new version?

It seems to be better than Adobe Reader 7.

YES you must upgrade as there is a potential vulnerabilities in Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat 7. Read about it here: http://www.adobe.com/support/security/bulletins/apsb06-20.html

It's just fine. You will find as time goes on that some things won't download unless you have the upgraded version. Hey, it's free, to with it!

Upgrade, it will take a couple of days to get used to the new layout, but that's the same with any software upgrade

if u need just to read PDF files then go for foxit pdf reader (it's free) [small size ,loads much faster and no need of installing it]
