Are you talking about cancer patients? Well, you tell them the truth regarding diagnosis and prognosis. But I am sure your medical training would teach you these things. Odd question ...

when i had cancer i wanted everyone to stop babying me and treat me the way they did before i got sick, it made me feel worse.
