womens right?? women don't have the 'same' right as men in Islam. but men and women have '''equal''' rights in Islam.

I come from an educated muslim family who are very conservative.
Over the period of my life Ive lived in different muslim countries including my own.
And never have I seen female genital mutilation practiced with fervor and in the mainstream.
I have come across people who were born in Africa tho. And they had genital mutilations performed on them and this took place irrespective of religion.
As far as honor killings go, such a thing does not take place in mainstream either. It is done by the uneducated and crude, who might in turn be either muslim, atheist or even jew. This depends on the culture, as it is, some cultures in the East give a lot of reverance to honor and consider it more pretious than life. Remember the Japanese?

Having a "women's lib" in Islam is like having a nursery center in an abortion clinic! It makes no sense at all, it's a total 180 from where these concepts are at and what they stand for, and both concepts show about how much "rights" they have!
Sura 4:34 states about women: "remove them into beds apart, and SCOURGE them." Don't think we're having any women's lib anytime soon...
Women are used in islam like we use tissues over here...
