Bubbly beverages hit your system faster than non bubbly; this includes hard liquor with mix. I'm curious to know how many hour period did you consume 5-7 glasses; did you eat prior or during also your size, body fat % and mood can also effect the effects of alcohol.

I have a rule of thumb for when I'm drinking in public, 1 glass of alcohol then the next drink must be water. After the water, my next drink can be alcohol again. This works well, you pee a lot, but you don't want the alcohol hanging around in your system.

Well it totally depends on how much you drink normally. Have you had 7 glasses of champagne before and felt fine? Also depends on if you had anything to eat. I read an article about champagne- apparently it affects you quicker than hard liquor if you have nothing in your stomach (something about the bubbles). Although- on the other side.... ive had my drink spiked before and it was kinda the same story- fine one sec then you dont remember a thing but are still functioning. I knew it was spiked though because i only had one drink.... and i KNOW i caan drink way more than that-lol. I guess theres not really a way of knowing for sure- unless you got tested at the dr.s ( i think it has to be within 48 hours)- even then you wouldnt know who did it. I hope you husband was understanding either way! :)

Scary!! I think that 7 glasses of champagne is way too much for any woman, you would be surprised how negatively alcohol effects your body. Unfortunately spiking can happen, you need to watch you drink, or know the company you keep, that is usually in the singles scenario, but you never know. Be careful, take care.

No doubt in my mind you had an over load of Champagne.
There could be several reasons for this happening.
Not enough food in your system.
You were not hydrated enough to counteract the Champagne dehydrating your system.
It could have been a combination of both plus your being active on the dance floor, causing the champagne to flood your system.

Either you did indeed have your drink spiked or drinking champagne doesn't suit you!

Different types of alcoholic drinks affect people in different ways. For example, I can drink spirits (Southern Comfort, vodka, gin etc) until they come out of my ears but give me a couple of glasses of wine and I'd be on my back in a coma! Beer/lager sometimes makes people depressed or aggressive and yet other people are fine drinking it. Find your happy drink and just stick to that in future (in moderation of course) and always, ALWAYS keep an eye on your drink, don't leave it unattended.
