We have a middle aged rescue beagle that has a good temperament. She has two strange behaviours that I hope soeone can explain what they mean.
The first is that the dog loves to get up in her owner's faces. Sometimes, she'll paw at our faces or get her head as close as possible to us. After she's able to do this, she goes off and does other things, but still does this action a lot. what does it mean?
Sometimes the dog will try to dig through the couch cushions and/or root around in and under pillows and blankets. However, she usually sleeps in her crate or dog bed. what is she doing this for?

Honestly, an untrained dog can be a real pain - a risk to himself, his owner and to other people and animals. Owning an undisciplined dog may result to:
- Destruction to your home
- Social isolation
- Accidents
- Injuries
- Legal claims against you
- Stress to all concerned
- The dog being unwanted
Canines that always get their own way will believe that life revolves around them and for that reason they must be important. Since dogs are looking for controlling different resources than humans, their bid for power usually goes undetected until it’s too late. Obedience and house training your dog and ensuring he’s not raised to a top position inside the home will keep your relationship with him well-balanced in your favor, as it must be for satisfaction all round.

The first is that she is claiming you and loving you at the same time..my dog loves to nestle his nose on my neck and give hugs.
The second is that she is getting her bed (couch) comfy. I have a big dog and he does the same thing it drives me crazy..I eventually went out and bought a garage sale couch just for him..so he would stay off of my good couch and not tear it up..it worked. But the couch was for the kids too, so I would suggest getting a doggie bed for the living room..she wants to be in your comany but she still needs her own spot there. Good luck ...

I'd have to say that she wants your attention for some reason. She is saying "HEY! YOU! LOOK AT ME!" Dogs need/want/love to be watched, seen, paid attention to. Perhaps she is wanting something from you...go out for potty...go for a walk...fresh water...play time. Try to figure out what she is wanting. Follow her after her face in your face action.
As for the cushion digging, rooting around....that is a nesting action. Dogs love to build comfy places to curl up in. A sofa is flat, and she is rearranging to fit her taste...which is usually a curled up position in the middle of a nest. It feels safe and is oh! so comfy! Or...she might think she is fixing the sofa for her family (humans) to make it comfy for you guys. She is also a female, and nesting is more prevalent in females. Hope this helps.

Punch Caesar Milan National Geographic channel into the search engine. He also has a program on the National Geographic Channel. The guy is a genius with dogs. I don't even have a dog and I always watch his program.

She wants attention, mine does the same when I arrive home - I think he wants to smell where I've been & what I've been doing. And he does that thing with the couch cushions also - I think he's hiding, playing with us, because when he does it we will say "Where is Rocky?"
