No. We helped Osama Bin Laden in the 80's so Afghanistan could defeat the USSR.

The way he repays us is to attack us.

We do not support the Taliban.

There is no chance that we support the Taliban. We removed them from their leadership in 2001 after they openly refused to turn over the leadership of Al Queda. They openly supported all Al Queda's action on and before 911. What we did in the 1980's to support them against Russia had nothing to do with what happened in the 1900's and 2000's.

The TALIBAN used to be supported by the US when the former USSR invaded. Obviously, they don't anymore because the USSR doesn't exist and aren't there anymore.

Hrm....NO, the US NEVER supported the Taliban. Ever. They supported certain elements that would become later involved with the Taliban, but never giving support directly.
