Yes you can. Ask for a spiral curl. I don't know how old you are, but when I was 14, I had very straight hair. I got it permed twice. And twice I never looked after it the way I should have. But after the second perm the curl never left. Now my hair curls beautifully on its own.
I am not saying that your hair will have a permanent curl after the second perm. I think it was in my genetic make up.

There are many different types of perms. The end result depends on the size of the rod that is used, how the perm is rolled, and the type of solution. You can most definitely get a perm with loose curls, you just have to make sure that the person doing it is experienced and knowledgeable. If done correctly, a perm is not very damaging at all, especially when compared to daily use of heat-styling tools. When cared for correctly, a good perm lasts around 4-6 months. Cost varies greatly from one region to another, and even from one salon to another, so call around and check prices. Also be aware that chemical services cost more for longer hair. Make sure to ask the salon about additional costs.

You can purchase a Body Wave perm at a beauty supply store. Use the largest perm rods, I think they are the white ones, but you can ask the clerk to be certain. Your hair will be more curly than you really want for the first week or two. After that, the curls loosen up. Be sure to use a very good conditioner after the perm and the curl will last longer. If you want just waves, you could even use small plastic rollers. Just be sure to use plastic clips to hold them in place. Never use metal clips when during the perm process. The chemicals in the perm react in a negative way to the metal and its notgood for your hair. Be sure to purchase perm papers to hold the ends straight or you will get fuzzy ends. Also, buy enough cotton strand to go completely around your head. This will keep the perm solution from dripping down your face and neck. You can get more help from your clerk at the beauty supply shop, if it is a really good shop. They usually only hire staff with a stylists license or who have at least gone to beauty school.

Yes! If you go to a professional stylist. A good stylist will roll your hair on the correct rod size for your hair texture and most likely use a mild perm solution. Make sure to tell the stylist that you want loose curl and bring pictures in of what type of curl you like. Also the most important thing after perm is condtioning.

I was exactly the same! Dont perm it!! if you get it done on mega str8 hair wont take, and if any does it will be the sad 80s perm. I wanted the same as you but it totally failed, wrecked the condition of my hair too. Get a really good curling wand, or for big barrel curls just go with the barrel brush and blowdry. And you know what, ppl never stop asking "why the hell did you go for a perm, your hair is so straight i gotta use a straighning iron on mine"

My 14 year old granddaughter had straight hair. She got a curly perm and looked super cute. It needs to be a sprial perm and use the largest perm rod. Best if you have this done in a salon.

If you like those big curls type, its not lasting. My hairstylists told me that it'll only last 2 months maximum, and waste of money. Reckon they say any type of perm, you'd still need to put in a little effort in the morning. If not, it'll look dry and frizzy!
I just permed, ceramic (mix with 15mm roller and 18mm) and only the lower portion of my hair. At least will b more lasting Hopefully, i can manage it well!!! Keke...
(WIsh me LUCK)...
Cheers!

Yes they can do that for you. Just ask them to do loose curls or use really big rollers. Also, bring in photos of the hair styles you like. So they can get a better idea.
