that's a tough one ...
and they say it takes about 3 weeks to develope a habit

try to use something that you can put a reason to.
ex: If you need to lose a few lbs or just want to get tight ... keep saying if I do this by spring I'll look good for the warm weather.
and if you start to feel like not going convince yourself that you'll feel guilty if you don't accomplish your goal.

I guess guilt is the best motivator ... think of all the benefits, better long term health, better visual appeal, more activity = more energy and brain function and then just convince yourself that if you skip it you won't feel as good as if you went ....

also on the night before your gym day ... put out what you need to go to the gym (visual reminder)

its just playing tricks till you feel bad if you don't go.

I highly recommend you go to www.sparkpeople.com. This is a free website that's dedicated to helping people safely lose weight, through sensible eating and exercise. There are no gimmicks, pills or special "diets". There are groups you can get involved with, and video clips of exercises you can do even in your dorm. I've been a member on this site for almost a year, and have had much success with it. First thing they told me to do was to list all the reasons I wanted to lose weight. These are called your "motivators". Put them on little slips of paper and stick them all around your room, inside your notebooks and any place you need reminding when you feel like your losing sight of your goal. Give it a try. I think you'll like it. <*)))><

I lost 105 pounds in 6 months. Here is how I did it.
1. Every morning get up and walk for 45 minutes. You can start with less time, but you want to get up to 45 minutes, and it must be fast walk. You want your heart rate to go up. It must be in the morning, it kick starts your metabolism.
2. I cut out Red Meat, and fatty foods. Boneless skinnless chicken breast, baked, or grilled, rice and vegetables (steamed).
3. Eat half. Just eat half of what you normally eat. Put 1/2 on your plate, and put the rest away. Cook less. When you go to fast food, get salads only. Or grilled chicken. No fries, only diet soda. Or water.

It will work, once you get into a routine, you will get hooked on the results, and you will keep the routine. It has been over a year for me.

A sight with some really cool diet calculators and interesting calorie counting calculators is here. Check it out.

Stay motivated, and get up and walk every day. I seriously lost all my weight starting off my day on my walk.

Good LUCK!

First of all you need to set goals of where you want to be in say three or six months time in terms of exercising development. Goals should be long term i.e. six months, and then divided into monthly and even weekly. Having written these goals down and exposing yourself to them all the time you will need to get into the mindset of exercising and having the self discipline to continue. Patience and perseverance are of paramount importance.

I usually have to bribe myself. I pick something I love to do, and then tell myself that I cant do that something until I do my exercise. I like to surf the web..however I have a deal with myself that I cannot get on to the computer until I have done my exercise. So I use that on the days I just dont feel like it.

well. if ur desire to get in shape isnt strong enough to motivate you, you could try joining a club/team that inhibits physical endurance, like for example a wrestling team. That way you are with a bunch of ppl who have similar goals and you can push eachother. Its very very motivating.
