Remove the trigger group, then remove the existing magazine. Reinstall the trigger group without the magazine. Now you will be able to hook the notch of the removeable magazines on the pivot pin where the original magazine was. This takes some time getting used to lining up the notch and levering the mag back so it will catch, but you will get it with practice.

The 'clips' on an SKS are fed from the top. That's the way the gun was designed to be used and that's the best and fastest way to reload.

That's the clip. A magazine is something different.

If you want to replace your fixed magazine with a 'removable' magazine, you should know that these conversions can be ILLEGAL....

Also, these magazines are well known to have many problems. I have tried them of course, but went back to the original magazine and using stripper clips.

I will wager that if you practice with your firearm and loading it with stripper clips you can load and shoot 30 rounds before your friend can load a 30 round magazine. I have done this challenge and the top load wins.

DJ is correct. I too have tried several brands of the "removable" style 30 round magazines and none of them have lived up to my expectations, their performance was very disappointing considering what they cost. Stick with the ten round stripper clips, with practice they can be faster to load in the weapon, plus they can be stored w/ rounds indefinitely (no weak springs on a stripper clip).
