I have watched buffaloes swimming in the dirty sewerage water and drinking the same . The maid who rises these buffaloes don't provide them even enough drinking water . But I have never watched them falling sick.Daily they will be drinking the same sewerage water. The fellow will be selling milk from the cattle. We can't even imagine that with us.
Even if we take the most stringent precautions & use mineral water when we are moving places if not regularly we will be caught with some flu / Pharyngitis. We boast of eating the most hygienically prepared food & we coplaign indigestion ,gas problems etc.
Where lies the difference.

Here's my theory: animals who don't have great food and water don't grow as big as domestic animals who are provided good things. Their immune systems are too busy fighting infection. Also, some of those infections can be passed onto humans who eat the meat and drink the milk.

Farmers, in order to control the food and accidental injury, keep cattle restrained. The animals don't get much exercise, and I think they "worry" too much, which also contributes to their sensitive stomachs and poor health. Same goes for people who don't get enough exercise.

To some extent, we trade problems -- instead of dying of a brain infection, we are plagued with lesser problems like gas and indigestion. The fact that we *can* complain recognizes how far our food safety has advanced.

However, I think some "food safety" is just superstition -- scientists think it's best right now, but there may be studies in the future that disprove our current ideas. For example, eating raw eggs is *highly* disapproved of in the States, but in Japan, many people do it. I've never heard of anyone getting sick from this practice, either. The only problem is, the few people who get sick from salmonella get REALLY sick -- and we all have to think, is it worth the risk?

It's a tough question you've asked. It's hard to answer it through simple observation -- maybe the animals are suffering and we just can't see it . . . .

1) Domestic Milch animals - as Buffallos are kept just as long as they give milk and they are killed or left in the open after that.
2) Any of these calves - if born sick or found sick are killed ( they cant afford to keep a sick animal without getting milk).

Hence, we are seeing a population with a human equivalant of 18 to 40 years - the real youthful age. Humans are also the healthiest at this age group.

Any one who rears cattle know that they get milk only after the animal has had enough nutrition to keep itself healthy. so they feed them well.

And these animals are well immune as they dont get exposed to new set of hazardous virus / bacteria

natural selection ( humans could live like the Buffalo and we would have short unhealthy lives - in fact we did that a few thousand years ago )

and the problems you mention come from the things we do ( not the opposite ) - unbalanced diets - crowded conditions

This is just a theory. Your body builds up immunity to things, however if you never expose your body to certain things, your body lacks the built up immunity, and therefore you have more problems.
