It necessary to ensure that the person has been given factual information that is up to date, relevant and correct.

Unfortunately, many kids already think they know it all or have learned it all from their peers, which probably accounts for the alarming number of individuals that believe the following:

1) You can't get pregnant the first time you have sex

2) You can't get pregnant if you have sex standing up

3) You can't get pregnant whilst you are menstruating

4) The withdrawal method is adequate contraception

5) You can get pregnant via oral sex

6) STD's are something that happen to other people

7) It's ok to repeatedly take the "morning after" pill or have an abortion because you "forgot" to use contraception.

In my opinion, forewarned is forearmed and knowledge is power. Perhaps if people took sex education a little more seriously then there wouldn't be as many unwanted pregnancies or people riddled with sexually transmitted diseases.

Because sex is a natural instinct and a natural part of human life. It can be very confusing to a child without proper understanding and guidance.

Along with sex education comes education about consequences, including pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. As I said, sex is instinctual and so people are going to do it, whether you want them to or not. You might as well teach them to do it safely.

People with a greater understanding of the consequences are more careful in thier actions.

It's important for young men and women to fully understand what's happening with their bodies, what to expect, and the consequences of their actions. If they didn't, a lot of statistics would skyrocket.

Sometimes, school is the only place young people can learn about things such as this. Not all parents are comfortable in speaking with their sons and daughters, so they wouldn't know otherwise.

Because of the proliferation of sex reading materials and children may obtain the wrong one, so it is better to educate them beforehand with the proper knowledge.

because sex is a part of life and it is better to know the facts than try and find out for yourself or grow up being a complete idiot on the subject.
