Oh, please don't do this!!! My sisters daughter got hers caught on a blanket that her brother ripped away from her and her lobe got torn all the way down!! She's 18 now and her ear lobe still has a giant tear.
It's best to wait at least until she's old enough to actually want it done.

Why don't you let her decide if she wants pierced ears?
If you pierce her ears you open the door up to infection, scarring, and the potential for her to rip out or choke on an earring.
Personally I think they look really tacky on a baby. Try a cute bow in the hair instead. Much more feminine without punching holes in her body.

You know what - take a rest from "major" decision-making for the first ten years of your child's life. Just try and be a good, loving and consistent parent. Whether you get her ears pierced or not is not a big deal - either do it or don't but don't stress over it for heaven's sake. If you are in a quandary over this, you'll never last when your child is a teen.

That is something I really hate to see. Why not let your baby look like a baby? Do you have your ears pierced? Do you remember how sore it was....? I don't understand why people do this, I think it looks really cheap and tacky and takes the cute look away from babies. What's the hurry - there's no time limit on it so I'd leave it till she's older

I personally didn't until they were three but I do know people who have and they had problems with the baby pulling on them. But little baby girls are so cute with their ears pierced.

I don't agree w/ it... I mean yeah sure little girls look cute w/ earrings. But it's their body and shouldn't it be up to them to make the decison? I have two girl 20months and 5 weeks old... and I'm sure they'll want their ears done at some point.. but until they say it I'm holding off. I just don't think it's right punching holes in their ears w/o them saying they want it done. It's their body, why are we making a decision for them like that ...

Think of it this way. Nobody will think anything is odd if you don't pierce your baby girl's ears. However some people will think it looks cheap and tacky if you do.
My parents made me wait until I was 12, and several girls in my class had it done at around the same time. (I guess all our parents had set the same rule.)

I had my daughters ears pierced at 4 months they put this numbing gel on it for 45 mins and then they pierced them. she didn't flinch or cry and when i cleaned them afterwards she didn't care either. All cultures are different I'm Italian and we tend to pierce children's ears early I was 6 months old and my mum was 3 weeks old. It's up to you if you like it do it, and I've never heard of a person saying "I wish my ears weren't pierced" have you? and to the people that think it's tacky good on them I'm sure there are things I would never do that they have done or would let there child do. good luck and congratulations on your little girl there wonderful.

My mother made me wait until I was 12 years old and made me save up the allowance money myself to get it done. Made me appreciate them more and I was much more careful in the cleaning and care. I have friends whose parents peirced them young, and they constantly were getting infections because they didn't know what to do with them. It actually carried on later in life too. One friend in particular, her parents peirced her ears as a baby and let her peirce her nose as a teen. I have never seen a nose so infected in my life, because she just didn't take care of it. Now, your child may be different, but still. Besides, do you really want to have to clean the ears and change the earrings of a fussy baby?
