This question is interesting because you are asking, "what is God?". This goes almost hand in hand with 'who is God'. It seems none of us are alone in this question... and that all men and women consider this question during their lifetime. This shows me that most people do believe in a 'god'. Those who do question who God is, always seem to feel there is only one God. (you ask about one god... not gods). So we all seek the one God... the same God for all. We have different names for God, but we still seek only God. This seems to be something inate, inside of us, probably placed by God into our heart- because it would seem if there is a god, that he would desire to know us also. It would also seem logical, that if there is a god, that he would place that seeking for an answer inside of us and that there really would be an answer to the question. It seems logical to think that there is only one god for mankind. I beleive, without a seed of doubt, that I have met God and that He has answered my seeking. I was afraid while seeking because I did not know what answer I would find. I feared making a mistake in who God was and was afraid of what would happen if I actually found him.
I looked at many religions... and prayed and prayed... I choose not the same God my parents taught me as god. Was this ever scary. However after much time sincerely seeking in my heart, I met God for the reason, He saw my sincere seeking. What a most beautiful present He gave me. I avoided God, I sought God and then actually found God. And what is interesting is that I met Him as a reality- and not as just a god to believe in for the sake of believing in something. How you might ask? Because He (God), knew that I was very much seeking with all of my heart. He then, at the right time, took the time to meet me. It is a bit hard to explain. But I can tell you, He will also take the time to meet you. God is God and He desires us to love Him with all of our hearts and desires to also give the greatest love of all, His love. God is love in the purest form... not the kind found in our humaness. Nothing in life compares to meeting the real God. Nothing. I suppose you mean who? Or "Basically what is His qualification?"
God, Allah, Krsna, whatever name you want to use, is the Creator, Maintaner, and Destroyer. There is no time when He didn't exist, and there will be no time when He doesn't. Krsna, God, Allah, are differents names for Him. He is in every atom in every part of all the universes. Everything belongs to Him, and He is everywhere. In order to see Him, you have to accept a spiritual master, a Guru who is in a bona-fide disciplic succession, like Sri Srimad Bhaktivedanta Narayana Goswami Maharaja. Like Mohammad, Jesus, and many MANY other prophets (or sons) of the Lord, he is here spreading the glories of God and can take you to Him. However, the choice is up to you.

We have energy out there in the Universe. But for want of another name we call this God. The real name got lost by the Jews so God, until we find out what it is, will have to do. But for most people this is exceptable.

well theres god the father, god the son, and god the holy spirit. God the father is everything, including what we cant see, god the son is god into the flesh (Jesus) and the holy spirit is god's energy that comes to each person.

we can not know god. but only know god exist and is bigger than we can undesrstand. we just know everything in this world is his creature and and his something not so far not so near. we just know god exist. but why? when? where? How.. isn't known for us. How can a Computer Program Undesrstand love? so we can't understand god. because we are his creature. same is computer is our creature.
