Well, if you play games alot dont bother with vista, it takes up twice the ram as xp. However vista does look pretty cool.
Two hundred pounds is alot of money, probablay by next year the price will have dropped by half.
If you are looking for somewhere to buy vista try Ebay or Amazon.
Eitherway its your choice..

Probably not at first, you'd probably be better sticking with XP till either it drops in price or it comes time to replace your PC (then it will come with it)
Plus when a new OS is released there may be problems getting drivers for some hardware, I think printers are still a big problem. Also antivirus companies haven't yet finished making vista versions.
There may also be bugs that microsoft will have to fix.
Wait till it is cheaper, more stable and you need it.
I got a laptop with a free upgrade to vista I can redeem. Don't know if I will upgrade at the moment and I get it for free

Applications ready for Vista aren't ready yet (not even drivers which are still in beta stage, many of them, if available that is) so I should say for now it isn't worth it.
Problem is very soon Vista will become the standard (meaning more and more applications will be made for vista only) so even if we like it or not we'll have to upgrade to it.

If we're talking about being good for users, then it's not good yet.
If we're talking about good for a developer, it might be good, why not?
If we're wondering would it be good for a big company to help it succeed, well it depends on the company and what it does. I can't answer that.
If we only want something that has good looks and diffrent skins and ... Then I suggest using Windows XP and the Vista Transformation Pack 6, ONLY If you know what you're doing. The following is it's link:

I wish I could help more.

vista was created with the help(or rather under duress from ) the n.s.a. in the states, microsoft have allowed many security holes for intelligence gathering purposes ,if you feel that having a third part constantly able to gather information about your browsing habits or personal details then go for it ,but ask yourself why do microsoft run all 45,000 of their computers on linux operating systems ? because its more reliable ,more secure and less resource hungry ...i really wouldnt bother with vista imo

its not purely the consumer interface they have more advantageous in vista.. they have massively more advantageous secure practices to guard ur equipment and information.. even although while you're uncertain no remember if that's worth it, i recommend you first attempt the beta version.. considering u ll get to paintings with the vista os for unfastened and u ll additionally get to be responsive to roughly how clever that's, u can then make the call of no remember if to purchase it or not

Nope. It is constantly eating up 10% of your graphics card ALL THE TIME, just to run it. All it is is basically a different theme. May aswell just theme XP. I say nope, not worth the money.
