Hi Dennis....Have to say that your question has 2 different answers. Let me try to answer the 2nd part first.

If your cooling fan is not coming on then you need to test to see if the fan itself works. If it does? then check the fan sensor either in the block or head of the engine that controls the fan off/on. This could be the culprit.

As far as air lock in the cooling system.....I would check to see if the cooling system will hold pressure....Remove the radiator cap and install a pressure tester. This will allow you to "pump up" the system under pressure (about 12 lbs.) and check for leaks or where the cooling system could be pulling in air as the engine runs (loose cooling system clamp or fitting, worn hoses, internal engine seal failure, bad radiator cap)

Hope this helps a little and it solves the problem for you!

If you have air trapped in the cooling system with the engine off loosen a heater hose or remove the temperature sending unit and allow the air to escape the cooling system as you pour anti freeze into the engine until all the air works it,s way out of the engine and then run the engine until the thermostat opens and make sure the coolant reservoir stays full.

I had the same thing after my Rad was replaced. Just run the engine with the cap off the water reserviour and you will see bubbles of air coming out. When they stop put th cap back on and you should be ok.

because your cooling system has not been properly "Bled"

I would go to a reputable garage and get it done ,
It will not cure itself .
This should not take long, or cost too much
