Well, the beer hasn't a sweet taste. The doughnuts have a sweet taste. This combination isn't good.

Uck. Try beer and pizza instead. They don't taste good because they are two extremes on the taste scale. Most people don't eat sweet stuff with beer, like chocolate or marshmallows.

Cakes and Ale, man! It's a tradition!
The solution to your problem might be just to drink darker beer and eat heavier donuts. Try chocolate cake donuts with Newcastle, or bear claws with Pete's Winter Ale.
It's all about food pairing. :)

It just has to be the right beer. I easily see chocolate cake donuts and Royal Extra Stout together.

I'd eat a sandwich or stew with the beer and reserve the sweet stuff for when I can enjoy them better.

it is okay. my old buddy don the super programmer would sit up all night programming drinking beer with vanilla ice in it and donuts. the ice cream was the most important partto him. had no bad effects. last heard he wrecked his motorcycle in a rain storm but the beer and ice cream-do nut diet wasn't the cause. god bless you don.
