Two brothers have just been taken to court by the RSPCA for allowing their pet labrador to become morbidly obese (11 stones). How come parents who allow their children to become obese are not treated in the same way? I can understand overweight parents allowing their kids to grow huge, but whilst on holiday, I saw average sized parents with three HUGE children. At the buffet style mealtimes, these kids piled their plates high and their parents appeared to have no concerns whatsoever.

Dolph: You misunderstand - I'm saying that animals ARE better protected than children, I'm not saying they shouldn't be, I'm saying children should have the same protection.

i agree the law seems to be more protective towards animals than children, the parents off these obese kids should be taken to court and dealt with as they are killing their kids and the laws don`t seem to bother,

You raise an interesting question here. How can we take people to court for letting their dog get too big but like you say some parents take no interest that their kids are growing obese. I did see something on the news today that dogs are scavengers and will eat whatever you put in front of them, and maybe children as humans can make choices as to what they eat, but unless they are educated on the subject, have an example set for them and have support to eat the right foods how do they know what is right or wrong to eat.

I don't think obese children is necessarily abuse, it is usually ignorance of proper eating habits or medical disorders. It would be difficult to enforce, could you really fine parents because their kids ate too much. But maybe we should turn our attention more to helping more of these people, if they want it

You surely cannot compare the rights of the 2 with any sense of equality, or which has it better than the other.
??? < Man versus Animal > ???
a) Man is the more intelligent of the 2, is he not ? Even up until death, will he still not be the more intelligent of the 2 ?
b) Man lives by the law(s) created by himself & his HUMAN peers. Animals live by natural instinct & the law(s) of nature.
>If man followed GODs laws like he was supposed to back in the garden of eden, our world wouldn't be in the predicament we are in now.
Man was given rule over his domain >the earth, animals, etc. & he has pillaged, killed, destroyed what he was given command of.
c) If people cannot take care of the simplest of creatures..... plants, pets & other wildlife/animals, what makes you think they are capable to be responsible enough to care for fellow highly advanced creatures like children of their own species ???

Animals DO NOT have a voice for them, their voice comes in the form of laws enacted to protect them & their environment. The VERY SAME environment that you & I also live, work, play in.
The very air we breathe, & water we drink.
Children HAVE a voice. They have CPS, they have teachers, counselors, mentors, family members, etc. to turn to.
If parents treated them correctly, & not like an animal or as if they were nothing.... then they wouldn't need a voice.
The world would be perfect.

i love preserving animals. i do not recommendations recycling. i guess in the journey that that they had a recycling police dealing with my garbage, i might want to have an mission with that. I basically favor to do what's precise and be left on my own. preserving little ones - we do not do a good job of that as a society. Suicide prevention - hmmmm. nicely, i'm not particular what might want to be carried out about that with the exception of melancholy help.

This is more of a vent than a question.

Both children and animals need more protection.

I totally agree with you - something needs to be done but how? Is it down to the Government - you never know they might tax people depending on their weight! (give it time)

At least with kids if they do wrong they don't get put down like animals

I agree with you here, a human life is a bit more important than an animal life, but oh no, you so much as stroke an animal these days, you'll be locked up! It's not fair!

I hope so because people are so cruel to helpless innocent animals.
What is wrong with protecting animals?
I wish animals could have equal rights
