Get yourself a Contemporary English Version Bible and start reading it, until you read the whole thing. You may have to order it from Amazon, as Bible Stores only carry popular brands which are controlled by publishers advertising. The CEV is the only version of the Bible that is easily understood by a listener upon hearing the words. Try listening to the King James Version. Many times you would have to ask for a certain segment to be repeated as you struggle to make sense of it. If you can hear the CEV easier, then you can read it easier too. How do you translate Hebrew into German? By figuring out the best way to say it in German. What does the Hebrew mean? Once known, then how is the best way to say it in German? That is what proper translation is. It takes the pecan and cracks the shell and allows you to get to the meat. Too many translations don't allow you to get to the meat. Their translators are too worried about losing the appearance of the shell. Get the CEV and read. It will make you think. Real faith is always reasonable. It is never blind. Faith, when you have it, will make sense. Faith in itself is nothing. Faith is always the conduit of confidence toward a person, place or thing, but not the person, place or thing itself. When faith is in operation, you don't notice faith at all. All you notice is that you have confidence in a person, place or thing, or in this case God.
So in essence, faith is a confidence and trust and leaning on God. Since the CEV is truly understandable, the reading is enjoyable.

Dictionary definitions:

Confident belief in the truth, value, or trustworthiness of a person, idea, or thing.
Belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence.
The body of dogma of a religion

The raison d' etre for faith seems to lie in the fact that to some who have attained to a sufficient depth of it, it 'works' in lieu of, or even in addition to, rational reason, logic and science.

I'm not sure you find faith so much as achieve it. You achieve it by being receptive to the concept of belief without tangible evidence. It can happen in an instance, with an epiphany, or though a lifetime of experience.

Crede, ut intelligas

You have to be chosen, but you have to have the right mentality to be chosen. Lots of people say they believe in God, but fear in the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Most people can't understand that Gods knows all and is watching, it's just to weird to imagine but true. Personally I did a lot of sinning, but inside my heart I just wanted to be good, God pulled me back and saved me. I started seeing things differently, started to realize all of life is great like my family. You have to want to know truth, then you must have a pure heart with good intentions, then you will begin to take a walk and meditate, then if you are worthy you will be chosen. If you never seek, you will never find. Reading scripture is one way to get your mind on God, whether you believe the scripture or not, it's a good step.

faith is by hearing; it is like learning mutiplication by repeating and repeating things. it is like a prayer; if you were thinking the whole day about negative things that will = your prayer and that is what you will believe and that is what you will get. you can change the things you believe in by changing the words you use. if you constantly say you feel awfull that is who you are, but by practising new words like i feel wonderfull your whole life can change.

By simply believing what you are told to believe.
By losing all sense of reality.
By hanging your future on a fairy story.
Etc, etc, etc.
Don't even look for it. See reality and accept it.

You look to the parents and the geographical location. That's where it comes from.

In an area full of Catholics, brought up by Catholic parents, the child is going to be Catholic.

In an area full of Muslims, brought up by Muslim parents, the child is going to be Muslim.

Children are indoctrinated before they can truly consent or understand. That's how it works.
