There are dozens of good poker books on the market, you should check one or two out. A lot of websites have starting hand charts and whatnot, but a good book will explain to you WHY you should be playing/not playing certain hands in different situations.

The all-time quintessential poker book is "Super System" by Doyle Brunson, recently updated as "Super System 2". I also recommend "Small Stakes Hold'em" by Ed Miller, Mason Malmuth and David Sklansky.

Play a lot and watch the other players while you are playing.
Try playing a game and being very patient - it is hard, but throw out hand after hand after hand, and just watch the players. Watch what they bet, and when. Watch their expressions on the flop, on the turn, on the river, when other people bet.
The other thing is not to do the same thing (unless it's deliberate) too many times. Change your method of playing often to keep people from being able to predict your actions or guessing your hand.
The main thing is to play often, and observe the behavior of other players.

Playing is the only real way to learn how to play. Position is key to playing, as well as chip stack and how many other players are in the pot. At first you will lose money, but if you start to grasp the game you will win money in the end. good luck...

Practice practice practice and when that gets boring, practice some more. By practice I mean play tons of hands.
