Firstly, it's not just Chritianity which has doctrine.
All belief systems have doctrines attached. Doctrine is core belief; for catholics it is enshrined in the prayer they recite called "the Creed" and covered in the bible; for Mormons, it is encompassed in their "Articles of Faith" but covered in their scriptures too; for Muslims it is found in the Koran.
Look at the word indoctrination - this implies being immersed in the relevant dotrine and accepting it as a personal belief. There is nothing more sinister to it than this!
Ask yourself - "What do I believe; where is it written; how much do I accept by faith alone"? Therein lies the doctrine you may wish to follow.

A doctrine is a belief or value that becomes widely accepted and eventually enjoys "official" acceptance by an authoritative body.
(That means that a bunch of religious guys are sitting around somewhere and vote on what is "offical" and what isn't.)
You're far better off figuring it out on your own, perhaps with guidance.

A doctrine is a belief or code or teaching.
these are the essentials of Christian Doctrine.
Jesus is God in flesh
Jesus rose from the dead in the same body that he died in
Salvation is by grace through faith - nothing else.

Doctrine, from Latin doctrina (compare doctor), means "a code of beliefs", "a body of teachings" or "instructions", taught principles or positions, as the body of teachings in a branch of knowledge or belief system
