First off - the correct spelling is mastUrbation but we will forgive that particular sin.
Anything that you do to excess can be interpreted as a sin, even eating.
If you feel guilty about masturbation, then that's your problem. Don't worry about it but, at the same time, don't do it to excess. Your body tells you of its needs; it tells you by signals to your brain that you need to drink, to sleep, etc. It also tells you that you need to have sexual release. If you don't have a personal sexual relationship with one significant other, for whatever reason, I do believe that the rest of the world would rather that you indulged in a little 'self-help' than went out into the world and raped someone.
Hang on ... are you male or female?
Doesn't matter. If you are male, it will take but a few minutes of your time and, if you are female, there's a whole world of sexual aids which will bring you to orgasm with ease. Just don't overdo it!
Finally, who cares whether you masturbate or not ... only you. There is no omnipotent entity watching you, as god is imaginary, so only you will know what a naughty little human being you are.
Finally, finally - get a girlfriend/boyfriend and masturbate each other? No problem with that and far better than going solo.
No, I am not available. Find someone else. I have more than enough consenting partners to keep happy ...

The question you should be asking is, What is sin. Sin is something you do, that goes against God's rules. Take for example the 10 commandements. Violating those laws are sinful acts. Masterbating wasn't on there, so in that case you are off the hook. I feel that stuff like that (masterbating, wearing a condom or using birth control) That is stuff made by man. Laws of man come second to the laws of God. Just because some guy, who claims to be closer to God than you (priest, minister, preacher) says that this is what God means, is full of it! Yes clergy plays a small role in the full spectrum of God. But what is most important, is just enjoying God and his gifts to us, and sharing them with your brothers and sisters.

Judeo-Christian tradition has taught for thousands of years:
1. Single people should be celibate.
2. Married people should be faithful to each other (adultery is wrong).
The Catholic Church recognizes the power of sex when it teaches, "Sexuality affects all aspects of the human person in the unity of his body and soul."
Chastity means the successful integration of sexuality within the person. A chaste person's body and spirit lives in unity and opposes any behavior that would impair that unity.
Masturbation is contrary to the human dignity of the person and anyone about whom the person has lustful thoughts, and the dignity of human sexuality.
With love in Christ.

I artwork at a christian e book keep, and enable me inform you, there are a minimum of 18 books protecting what's sexually permissible in or out of marriage, and 0.5 of them placed masturbating in a good mild. i do not recognize why, i in simple terms glanced, i did not purchase and study, notwithstanding the elementary theory is they say that the kind of large quantity of individuals do it should be proper, stupid, or that the actual act isn't undesirable, yet doing it and questioning lustful ideas is a sin. i visit understand the second one argument extra ideal, that is in effortless words lustful ideas that are sinful not inevitably the moves. so in case you should do it without taking under consideration something arousing it could be ok, in accordance to them.

Our teacher once tackled this issue, according to her it is normal specially for boys.
Nowadays, almost everybody is doing it.
Good or Bad?
Well, for me if your just masturebating for your biological needs, it stays unsinful. But when you start to think or when you're on a fantasy of having sex with someone, I guess it's already a sin, since PMS is unacceptable by the church and is very rampant these days.Yes, I know PMS and those kinds of stuffs are very rampant now but I still live on virtues that my parents and teachers are teaching me. I also do those things but I still have the respect and the real love for my future partner and for myself. I don't know what I'm talking about, I just stated my insights. Bless Yah.

Scripture can probably be interpreted to call it a sin under two conditions:
(1) When it involves fantasizing about a woman (or man) to whom you're not married, including a porn model/actor.
(2) When it becomes a means of withholding intimacy from your spouse.
The physical act itself is just "stress relief."

Yes, but it's not.
Lying to people about what sin is, is a sin though.

CONGRATULATIONS....you are the one billionth person to ask this question.
What do we have for them, Bob?
Yes it's a sin because it's adultery. Adultery is defined as sex with anyone other than your spouse. Sex with self is not sex with your spouse.
If you're really serious about this issue, pick up the book "Every Man's Battle," it will help you immensely.

No.
However if you think yes, here is the drill:
Sin, repent confess, get saved, sin again, repeat the process.
More than 95 % of men say that they masturbate regularly. 5% lie about it. It's natural healthy and enjoyable so just do as you like.
